Yeah, because you have access to all of the intellegence reports. You try again...

The official 9/11 commission report speaks for itself.

As for the TSA not making air travel any safer you literally have nothing to go on other than making a blind assumption. It is simply another security layer and that in itself will deter some from giving it a try. That being said, if someone wants to kill people bad enough they will and people like you will constantly blame it on others.

    Linky (http://www.usatoday.com/travel/columnist/mcgee/2008-02-27-state-of-airline-security_N.htm)

So much about that. Even when you read biased **** like the recent RAND Corp report the findings are astounding. What baffles me even more is their conclusion that international airtravel is the threat and domestic security should be reduced again. Nevermind that the 9/11 flights were all domestic flights and the 9/11 gang would have most likely been caught had they tried this stunt on an international flight with the pre 9/11 security measures of international travel. There is so much misinformation and ******** being propagated in this arena my trust in the competence of anyone involved in this business is absolute zero.

Agreed. I thought we were well past the days when computer applications had to emulate their analog compatriots. Leather, wood, paper, stone = not for computer UIs please!

Speaking of bad iCal, why is it I can't flip pages in the Calendar app on my iPad by actually flicking the pages (a la iBooks)? Instead I have to tap on arrow buttons? What's up with that???

In Mac OS X, there are known as gestures. :D

Navigation gestures, for eg. 3 finger navigation.

In what way is "McDonalds responsible?"

Were the shareholders involved in the senseless beating?
Was the CFO video taping the thing?
Was the COO telling the perps to "run"?

    Nope.

How about we hold the degenerates who put fist to flesh responsible rather than scapegoating the big bad business?

IMO, scapegoating McDonalds only cheapens the issue. Now if you want to talk about the EMPLOYEES responsibilities for ensuring a safe environment for customers, that is another issue that I will fully support.

For christ's sake dude, would you read the OP? Because that's all this is about. I had to shorten the headline to get it to fit and it somewhat changed the meaning, which was unintentional. But the intent of the petition is to get the employees involved punished. That's all. Don't worry, McDonald's poor precious shareholders aren't being targeted by the big, bad, nasty librool on MacRumors.

They really seem to believe that everyone is naive.

As Apple themselves have pointed out, the number of displayed bars on a phone is often not very meaningful.

What's important, is how much dBm change occurs and especially whether or not the connection drops.

Ok but the problem is that 99% of the people are naive and only pay attention to the bars they see on the screen.

"Thanks" might work in a pure support form. But for news discussion, it makes little sense.

    arn

    Perhaps a "Relevant" button then.

I guess leaving it as a +1 button is pretty much the same thing without using a word.

    *shrug*

I just think it may be more troublesome than helpful to have a -1 button. If someone disagrees with a post, they usually respond with an argument. If they agree, unless they have something to add, hitting the +1 button would work, and it would clear up the "Agreed" and "+1" posts.

Not sure about the AP Express (it's not on Apple's printed "Joy to the Wallet" sale list) ... Here it is again:

"Joy to the Wallet" sale only on black friday '06:

    iMac: $898-$1958
    MacBook: $998-$1398
    .Mac: $68
    iPod Nano (except Reds): $138-$228
    iPod: $228-$318
    Wireless Mighty Mouse: $58
    Shure earphones: $78-$238
    Contour iPod Cases: $14-$24
    Belkin TuneBase FM: $58
    JBL On Stage Micro: $78
    JBL Spot Speakers: $108
    LaCie Hard Drives: $148-$888
    Incase Sling Pack: $48
Xtreme Mac Micro Memo Voice Recorder: $48
    Sonic Impact Video-55 Display: $238
    Nike+iPod Sport Kit: $24

The "red" iPod nanos and the new ipod shuffle remain at the same prices...

Well, then you add tax and you would be better of buying online at free-shipping, no-tax options. Applestores are nice, to look at stuff, but no good for anything else (especially lousy are the 'so-called' genius bars).
    Just my 2c, t.

Please also replace those crappy black white icons with colored ones. What is wrong with colors? Is lion color-alergic??

    Lion isn't.

    Steve Jobs is.

He's suffering from depression, so he wants to suck all the colour out of the Mac, so OSX users suffer with him.

Actually I have seen a number of explanations on this thread from people who use Windows more than myself. The answer to why it is "7" does not seem to be well known even to Windows users.

    Really its not brain surgery.

    Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, XP (5.0), Vista (6.0), Windows 7 (7.0).

It says it's a "shopping event" (http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/shopping/?CDM-EU-0994) though, not a sale.

It's hard to decide from the ad whether it means special prices or not - I'm about to order a Macbook and can't decide if it's worth waiting!!

Post your code, and let us know what you are trying to accomplish.

Nekbeth, let me suggest that you take some time to read over http://whathaveyoutried.com and http://mikeash.com/getting_answers.html.

dejo, ulbador and wlh99 are genuinely trying to help you, but you have not defined the problem or given them (or anyone else) enough information to work with in order to be able to help you.

Part of the problem, which dejo already alluded to, is that without a common understanding of fundamental assumptions you both end up frustrated. You might well be able to ask for a coffee in French, but if you are in a dentist's office in Austria that might not lead to satisfaction all around. Your assumptions aren't in sync.

ATT and their admitted 30% call drop rate is truly sad.
FWIW, it was a single Apple Genius that made that comment, specifically about AT&T's NYC service. AT&T didn't admit anything.

We need to let Apple know how disappointed we are with ATT.
A great way to let Apple know how disapointed you are with AT&T is to return the device. People that keep the iPhone -- even though AT&T service doesn't work for them -- don't give Apple much incentive to improve things. Apple already got your money.

Considering communism is dependent on control of the resources so they can be equally doled out, it's not free and open. You're thinking of anarchy.
    Your username is appropriate.

I was referring to things that work in theory and not in practice. Now that you have me going about it though, communism is, in theory, open and in practice, not open. You are describing the practice of it, not the theory. Thanks for proving my point.

I have to say, when I first heard about the iPhone I let my Verizon account go, because I knew I wanted to get the iPhone. Well AT&T sucks up in my part of the woods. We have terrible coverage. My girlfriend uses Verizon - let's just say, I can't wait for Verizon to start offering the iPhone.

Seriously Apple, how soon until the app store is the only way to install apps on your mac?
I can see it now: How to jailbreak your Mac

Seriously though, Apple's going to have to remove a ton of their current restrictions before that happens so I honestly don't see it happening anytime soon.

Bear in mind, there is nothing inherently bad in a company having a monopoly, not even Microsoft. What's bad (and illegal) is when a company in such a position abuses its monopolistic power.
Occassionally it can be beneficial to have one company setting certain standards. However, the value of competition is that the stronger/better thrive (while the weak adapt or die out). If you have a monopoly, that disappears.

The most important thing is that we don't create a system where the weaker stuff can survive because a monoply throws more money into it, while the better one can't make it.

How does this relate to everything? I don't know... maybe I lost the point... oh no here it is.

At the moment Apple competes as an entire ecosystem (iPod/iTunes/iTMS) against other combinations... and everything is still improving for consumers. So that's a good thing. Apple is using its muscle to force open some new markets, which again is good. I think we need Apple to do what it's doing with the iPod, for now, but it also needs the flexibility to know when to work with everyone (like MS does). I think they'll have to open up the iPod/iTunes/iTMS trifecta soonish, but they might not realise till it's too late.

And on a personal note - iPod/iTunes/iTMS is great if you've got all 3. If you don't have iTMS movies, where do you buy movies from? What about if you're a BIG movie renter, but never buy them - what choice do you have?

The single option both forces big change, and stops flexibility.

i grew up in woodside, and it seems like this house would be very out of place. i'm not saying i have anything against his simple house or anything, just that it doesnt fit in with the area.

hope he enjoys getting no signal out there...everytime i go back there my iphone drains it's battery in about an hour searching for signal

That is what Microcells and Sat Phones are for. That, or a Verizon iPhone.
