485 fess from Jul 30th will be 1010USD. This also has EAD & AP fees built into it and you can keep on renewing EAD & AP with out paying fees every year unil you get your GC.
The first-time EAD/AP will definitely be free. But I could not find any explicit language indicating that renewals will be free. Here is the relevant section from the federal register notice:
Form I-485. For filing an application for permanent resident status
or creation of a record of lawful permanent residence--$930 for an
applicant fourteen years of age or older; $600 for an applicant under
the age of fourteen years when submitted concurrently for adjudication
with the Form I-485 of a parent and the applicant is seeking to adjust

So, the bottom portion of you H1 approval notice (I-797) does not have an I-94 ?
If not, then doing it in Canada for the first H1 can be a big gamble.

I was told by my attorneys para leagal (so who knows if this is true or not....) that the ITIN number is the same number that will be issued in the form of ssn.
I think this is incorrect. Since both the formats are different and in my
application we validate SSN . which has completly different logic.
Each number of SSN conveys a particular detail about the SSN. Where
as we capture TIN also but that validation is completly different.

I second it :) NO SSN REQUIRED FOR PP. I filled out 000-00-0000 for my son. I believe there was a site or document I looked up and got this info (dont remember where I found it).
You dont need a PIO. If it is emergency or you dont have time, just get a multiple entry visa. For kids at that age it does not make any difference whether they enter on PIO or a visa. Chicago issues visa the same day.
BTW does Indian consulate do background check and issue 221(g) :D:D
PS: I live in IL as well and you dont need SSN for kids to get a PP :)

I called once after my PD became current this month, that was last Wednesday (9th). The IO that I spoke to would not give me any information. All she said was "You will hear from us within next 60 days". So I guess it all depends on the IO that you speak to. As for LUDs, I did not get any since my FP.
As for Cross Chargeabilty, I saw a post on a successfull case only yesterday on IV forums. So it actually works. Hope you hear some good news soon.
BTW how did you request CIS to use your spouce's country of birth? Did you send then a letter requesting it? How about requesting an INFOPASS to get their attention?

Last week my wife's I-485 got an RFE on Medical Examination and Photos. Why is that only my wife got it and not me the primary applicant? Any thoughts. I have read some time ago that if the Medical examinations are 1 year older at the time of application processing they would request for a new one, is that still true?

The usage for Eb4(religious worker)+Eb5(investment) for 2008 was 3699.
These two categories are undersubscribed so the real spill over impact is closer to 3699. (which might bump up Eb2 india by 1 month more than otherwise.)

I agree this crappy bill better not pass and is worse than retrogression. It is screwing everyone at the cost of giving amnesty to illegals. It is such a joke I would have never imagined that they would have the balls to do this, but I guess they are all politicians!!!
They'll probably start with what Senate passes. and make some minor amendments.
If it passes the house, conference will be piece of cake.
Our best hope is:
1. When senators return to the constituencies for the memorial day recess, they receive a LOT of negative feedback about CIR and enough number of senators change their minds and vote in -ve and bill fails to make out of the Senate. Likelihood: 10-20%.
2. House of reps votes on this CIR and defeats it. Likelihood: 40-60%.
I hope one way or another, this piece of crap fails and I happily get my GC in another 5-10 years. If it passes, I'll have to pack my bags. Amen.

My fear is that if I have an interview, I would fall to pieces and get so nervous to answer questions.
I also wonder if my entries from 1986 will show up when they check the records.
It probably will not show up, but if you think you will be that nervous then you may want to get an attorney. But your case looks ok. You have maintained status since your last entry.

definitely your entry should be deneid, you are not uncapale to solve your domestic problem, how come you are going to do good to this country by getting GC. (I agree these people are not good as you, but before they start domestic voilence there are on citizen/GC (either one of them),

I think your lawyer is a moron. Why should the EAD from L2 be equivalent to EAD from 485/AOS ? I used to have EAD after I graduated years ago and was working on OPT. That doesn't mean I can file an extension for my past EAD when I apply 485. I would suggest you take a different legal opinion.
Well...now that the applications have reached USCIS ...there is nothing I can do....Hopefully they will issue an RFE or something....You sure scared me dude.....

You can start Greencard application in EB2 after receiving the MS degree in December 2006. H-1B and GC are two separate entities.
